My Client / My Self classes offer conflict resolution practitioners the opportunity to explore client counseling and peacemaking skills in depth.
AREAS OF STUDY
My Clients
To honor and explore our work with clients, we will:
- Gain a deeper understanding of the IDR cycle, the cycle of narcissistic inflation, deflation and realistic resolution that often occurs during negotiation,
- Learn about the psychological issues that arise during impasse, and how to deal with them,
- Explore the tension between compassion, objectivity, and boundary-setting with clients, and
- Engage in monologues, dialogues, discussions and role-plays and discuss specific cases as desired.
My Self
As we deepen into our own experience, we naturally become of greater service to others. We will:
- Learn why meditation and inquiry are indispensable practices for conflict resolution professionals,
- Learn about the superego and the professional ego ideal, and why they create barriers to accurate perception and effectiveness,
- Develop a practice of nonjudgmental inquiry and deepen our experience of presence.
